Plan your visit
Tell us what draws you.
A few lines is plenty. We will call you within a day, and the doctor takes it from there.
Thank you. We will call you within a day.
Until then, there is nothing you need to do.
Before your first visit
A few things worth knowing.
- Arrive a little early
- Ten or fifteen minutes is enough. The point of the day is to not begin it hurried.
- The doctor comes first
- Every visit opens with a consultation. The doctor reads where the body is, from sleep to appetite to strain, and shapes the ritual around it. Nothing is decided before this conversation.
- What to wear
- Something loose and comfortable. We provide what is worn during the rituals, and a place to change and rinse afterwards.
- Oils and your hair
- Most rituals use generous amounts of oil, and some of it is meant to stay with you for a few hours. If you can, let your hair keep the oil until evening; it is doing quiet work. Bring a cap or a scarf if you would rather travel home covered.
- Rituals that need notice
- A few rituals are prepared for you on the day they are given (Ksheeradhara, Takradhara, Dasamoolaksheeradhara, Talapodichil, Elakizhi, Njavarakizhi), so we ask you to book these at least a day ahead.
Asked often
Frequently asked questions.
Pregnancy and health conditions
Several rituals are not suited to pregnancy or to certain conditions. Tell us when you enquire, and speak plainly with the doctor at your consultation; some rituals will be set aside, and others chosen in their place. Nothing is booked until the doctor is comfortable.
If your plans change
Tell us as early as you can, and we will find another time. Rituals prepared fresh for the day are harder to move at short notice, so the earlier the better.
Redeeming a gift
Write or call, mention the gift and who it came from, and we will take care of the rest. The consultation and booking work the same way as any visit.
Parking
Details of parking at the Pondicherry space are being confirmed. Call us before you drive down and we will point you the right way.
How do I choose a ritual?
You do not have to. Tell us how you have been sleeping and what the weeks have felt like; the doctor reads the rest at your consultation and chooses with you. Nothing is fixed until you are comfortable.
How far ahead should I book?
A day or two is usually enough. Rituals prepared fresh on the day need at least a day of notice, and weekends fill first.
What should I eat beforehand?
Lightly, and not just before you arrive. Come neither hungry nor full; if in doubt, ask us when we call and we will keep it simple.
Do journey days have to be consecutive?
The three, five and seven day journeys are composed for consecutive days; that continuity is part of their work. A Season of Care spreads one ritual across each of four weeks instead.
